Finding The Joy After A Breakup

Many people ask me what they can do to cope with their breakup. They feel that they have done just about everything to get over the pain, but the joy and laughter has not returned.  Often we can become stuck in the pain, and fearful of the future anticipating that more of the same is ahead.   What I often suggest to is to connect with their joyful inner child.  Now for the present time let go of the minds worry and mental activity.   

 Remember yourself as the 5, 6,  or 7 year old; who’s spontaneity and joyfulness came so easily.  Take a moment now to capture a positive scene, and see yourself playing as a child.  Breath into that moment. Let the breath flow through your body.  Pause and breath again. Feel the pleasure in your body and your heart.   It is within your reach.   To help you further drop into your inner child and feel the energy of joy try these few suggestions.  And then think of others on your own.

1.   Find a park and swing or play in the sand at the beach.   

2.   Swim at night in a pool and play in the water.

3.  Put music on in your home and let yourself dance.

4.  Get a small drum or another  instrument and express yourself freely as you would as a child.

Deep down inside is the joyful inner child who naturally experiences  joy.  Once you connect with this energy you will gradually be able to spend more time in this physical and emotional state.
