Divorce Break Up and Beyond

A New Years Resolution - Positive Thinking

filed in New Beginnings on Dec 29, 2006

If you observe your thoughts you might find that you have a fair amount of negative thinking, self doubt and hopelessness. This is not uncommon after an initial breakup or divorce. You might be visualizing yourself as a bag person never getting back all of what you loss due to your divorce. Fear of the unknown is common.  Here are some suggestions to help turn your negative thinking around.

1.Take 10 minutes in the morning or evening and put all your fears and negative thoughts into a balloon. Watch the balloon float away. Do this as often as you need.

2.Imagine what you want. What are your dreams? Write them down. Be specific.

3.Take some quiet and alone time every day to visualize what you wrote.   See yourself living your dream.  Do this at least 5 minutes a day.

4.Find things right now to be grateful for. Do not wait until your dreams come true. This will help you transform some of the old negative thinking that has become habitual.

 5. Congradulate yourself on your efforts. If you do this daily, your belief in yourself will grow.
